Is your hair ready for winter?
With winter comes the all too familiar negative effects on our hair such as dryness, breakage, static and frizz. We’ve put together a few tips to help you make sure that your hair stays soft, smooth and shiny this season with the help of a few of our top winter saviours (and a quick DIY treatment you can do at home).
Over-washing your hair when it’s freezing outside could damage your hair which leads to more breakage, dryness and split ends. Try to extend the period between washes (read our post here to help you decide how often to wash your hair) and keep your dry-shampoo close.
Ah, something all our mom’s told us about. While you might be tempted to rush out the door with a wet head, don’t! Exposing already damp hair to icy cold weather could cause your strands to break and dry out. Rather take a few minutes to dry your hair as much as you can (with a nourishing serum of course) before heading out. Be sure to cover up with a beanie or scarf to give our locks some added protection.
Combat dullness with a homemade recipe
If you find that your hair is lacking lustre and looking dull, then be sure to try out this simple vinegar hack. Because dullness is also caused by a build-up of product, a vinegar hair rinse will help reduce the gunk while leaving your hair clarified and shiny. Simply mix ½ cup apple cider or white vinegar with 1 -2 cups water and apply to your hair after conditioning. Leave on for 2 minutes and rinse off with cool water.
