How to work out without any hair worries
Protect your blowout with our haircare favorites
Raise your hand if you’ve ever gotten a blowout and avoided working out for 3 days because your hair was so cute you were terrified of messing it up! Now raise your hand if you tend to style your hair on such a consistent basis, you’ve all but canceled your gym membership for the sake of your mane! A strong majority of us fall somewhere on the spectrum right between guilty and even more guilty.
Choosing between your blow out or your barre class is overrated. With just a few simple tips and tricks you can easily get your heart pumping and blood circulating while keeping your “do” intact.
Revamp your pre-workout routine
If you’re hitting the elliptical without any pre-workout hair prep you’re already behind. In order to preserve your style, what you do before your workout is just as important as what you do after.
We recommend applying a small amount of product that can control frizz and fly-aways, such as Deep Brilliance Shine Serum Leave-In Treatment before you begin any workout. This serum effectively seals the hair cuticle and protects it from frizz caused by sweat dampness.
If you want to look fly, then keep it high
Once you’ve applied this follow it by spritzing your roots with CHI Rose Hip Oil Dry Shampoo, which helps absorb sweat as you go. The higher the ponytail, the greater your chance of preserving your freshly styled locks once your workout is over. If you pull your hair back and place it in a high ponytail or loose bun, you help eliminate the risk of getting your hair drenched from sweat and it keeps you cooler during your workout – win-win!
However, it’s worth noting that you shouldn’t tie your hair with just anything. Avoiding tight hair ties is an absolute must to prevent your hair from forming creases once you take it down. Try a ribbon or cloth-based hair tie to keep your hair secure and dent-free.
Once your workout is over and you find yourself back at home, take a deep breath, and remember your two best friends: dry shampoo and your blow dryer. Take a towel and pat the areas of your scalp that seem to be particularly sweaty to dry them off.
Once you’ve done this use your CHI Royal Treatment Dry Shampoo moderately and massage into your scalp to help absorb all of the sweat and oil produced during your workout. Next, flip your hair over and grab your Hairdryer and blast it with cool hair. As a rule of thumb for post-workout blow-drying: blasting hot air will cause your hair to look malleable so always use the cool setting.
